Vertical Hung Windows
Classic, Clean & Convenient
The timeless design of the vertical hung window dates back to the 18th century. Technological advances however have transformed the traditional Andersen vertical hung window into a modern day masterpiece. Our vertical hung window sets the standard for tried and true classic good looks, convenience, and energy efficiency all in one.
It makes an elegant yet understated statement on its own or is a great way to add time-honored appeal to either a Bay or Bow window. The handcrafted details make the vertical hung an excellent choice when traditional styling is important. For restoration projects the Andersen vertical hung window is hard to beat.
A vertical hung window consists of one vertically sliding sash in a single frame. Both sashes are counterbalanced by a spring-powered block-and-tackle balance mounted on the side of each. A special latching mechanism provides an inward tilt that makes cleaning every inch of frame and glass, inside out and out, a breeze.
Vertical hung windows are suitable facing walkways, decks, and other traffic areas because the sash do not project outward. A full perimeter weather strip provides superior weather protection while allowing easy sash operation. The sash can be securely closed with the cam-type sash lock. An insect screen is installed into the outside track.
